Former Bundesliga champions 1860 Munich relegated to Germany's third tier

Ian Ayre’s first campaign with 1860 Munich has ended in disgrace as his side suffered relegation to the third tier of German football.

Facing Jahn Regensburg at home to remain in Bundesliga.2, the game was suspended with their side 2-0 down – 3-1 on aggregate – as supporters tried to enter the field of play.

Having finished third-from-bottom in their regular campaign, 1860 had to win their relegation play-off to retain their second-tier status..

                           They cannot play at the Allianz Arena next season.
